TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference is excited to announce its sixth Football Game of the Week of the 2025 season. The Florida Memorial University Lions will host the No. 2 Keiser University Seahawks on Saturday, October 11th in week two of conference action.
Viewed as a must-watch non-conference matchup, the league will provide additional promotion and sideline coverage throughout the day. Fans can follow along on the league’s social media accounts by clicking the icons below.
Florida Memorial Notes
- Florida Memorial is 2-2 on the season, losing their first two games, before bouncing back with back-to-back wins.
- FMU defeated No. 18 Southeastern (at the time No. 10), 28-23 this past Saturday for the first win against a ranked opponent in program history, just a week after defeating RV Cumberland in the home opener 24-19.
- FMU received votes in the latest NAIA top 25 poll for the first time in program history.
- David Buggs has thrown for 484 yards this season, along with three touchdowns.
- Jerodd Sims has run for 262 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 5.3 yards per attempt.
- On defense, Fernando Jeanty, the reigning SUN Defensive Player of the Week, is coming off an eight tackle, two sack, and four tackles for loss performance against Southeastern.
- FMU has earned back-to-back SUN Defensive Player of the Week awards (Kareem Roberts against RV Cumberland, Jeanty against No. 10 Southeastern).
Keiser Notes
- The Seahawks enter game four of the 2025 season ranked No. 2 in the nation.
- Keiser has been ranked in the NAIA Top 25 for 36 consecutive polls (since Oct. 3, 2022).
- The Seahawks are coming off a 49-3 win over Thomas (Ga.) to open conference play on Saturday.
- With the win, Keiser improved to 20-0 all-time in Sun Conference action and 40-3 in conference play (SUN & MSC).
- The Seahawks set the school record for total offense, posting 692 yards versus the Night Hawks – it marks just the second time in program history Keiser has record 600 yards or more in a single game (607 versus Pikeville [Ky.] – 11/30/2024).
- Keiser also set the school record for rushing yards, accumulating 398 yards on the ground – the previous record was 383 yards versus St. Thomas – 11/25/2023.
- Dillon Simon registered a career-high in rushing with 152 yards on seven carries, including two scores.
- Simon recorded the second longest rushing touchdown in program history with an 85-yard score in the second quarter – it is only the second scoring touchdown in program history of 80 yards or more (86 – Jaden Miller vs. Ft. Lauderdale – 9/21/2024).
- Jaden Miller also rushed for a career-high, recording 141 yards one 11 carries with one touchdown.
- Quarterback Shea Spencer completed 13-of-23 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns.
- Spencer became the first Seahawk to pass for 7,000 yards in a career (7,032).
- The Seahawks enter Saturday ranked No. 2 in the NAIA in third-down conversions (53%).
- Keiser's offense is averaging 43.0 points per game (tied for No. 11 in the NAIA).
- Defensively, the Seahawks are allowing 15.3 points per contest (No. 12 in the NAIA).
